Freshening up and updating your bedroom doesn’t have to cost the earth, and there are a few tips and tricks that you can use to transform a bland room into your own luxurious little sanctuary. We love the French country, shabby chic look here at Eclectic at Home, so we’re going to tell you how to get that romantic look with little effort and little spending! Below are our top 5 tips.
1) Fresh Flowers
Keep your bedroom fresh with a few vases of fresh flowers. This simple addition to your room adds colour, life and of course a wonderful scent. To save costs, don’t worry about expensive, elaborate bouquets. Try picking a few simple bunches that you can dot around your room in pretty vases and holders. This adds another dimension to your bedroom, as well as a mix of colours and textures.
2) Silk Cushions
Cushions are the staple of interior designers, and instantly transform a bed from drab into sumptuous. Silk, or silk look cushions give that romantic, indulgent touch. You can always try mixing in other textures such as velvet, and experiment with different designs and patterns. Just see the difference scattering three or four on your bed will make.
No romantic bedroom would be complete without candlelight, a cheap and simple way of making your room feel like a little haven. Use cute tea light holders to give off a soft glow in corners of your bedroom, or use pillar candles to add a luxurious touch.
4) Bed Throws
Whether it’s simple cotton or opulent silk, bed throws add beautiful texture to your bed, and provide the perfect finishing touch to your bedroom. They can tie in the colour scheme of your room, and enhance your bed, curtains and any other fabrics you may have. As your bed is often the centrepiece of the bedroom, making the effort here can enhance the rest of the room in turn, saving you time and money.
Adding a mirror or two to your bedroom has instantaneous effects. A large mirror reflects more light, giving the illusion of a bigger room and a more space. We love the large, ornate mirrors that add a sense of romance to even the smallest and simplest rooms. Try hanging two or three mirrors on the same wall near each other, or standing large mirrors on the floor for a true French country look. A few of our favourites are below:
We hope these have given you a little inspiration, making your bedroom feel special doesn't need to cost the earth. Let us know of any ideas you have to keep your bedroom looking beautiful!
